To interface with the Nextcore control unit, your host machine must be set to a static IP address for it to talk to the network. To set a static IP address, follow these steps. 

> ℹ️ OS Window 7-10

Ensure network interface it attached, This will either be embedded in the host machine or an adapter such as a USB-to-Ethernet adapter. 

1. Open up **Network and Sharing Center **in **Control Panel**

2. Open **Change Adapter Settings**

4. Open left click on associated ethernet port and open **Properties**

5. Click on **Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) **then click **Properties**

6. Change the IP address from automatic to **Use the following IP address**

7. Click **ok, **then close the window

> ℹ️ Having multiple ethernets dongles using the same static IP address can cause issues. Please be mindful of this when doing complex networking
